Sierra at Southlake offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults who have mental health concerns that do not require 24-hour care. In our IOP, adults can receive the comprehensive treatment they need for long-term healing.
Benefits of Intensive Outpatient Programming
Sierra at Southlake provides intensive outpatient programming for adults of all genders who are struggling with mental health concerns. This might include trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is designed for those who do not require 24-hour care but can benefit from a structured therapeutic schedule with therapy sessions several times each week. Our IOP can also act as a transitional program after completing inpatient treatment.
In our IOP, adults can receive the therapy they need during the day and still reside at home when not in sessions. This can be beneficial for adults who work or are in school and want a flexible treatment schedule.
The Intensive Outpatient Program Experience
The intensive outpatient program experience begins with the admissions process. During admissions, each adult participates in a thorough evaluation to determine if our IOP is the best fit for their needs. They are then assigned a care team that will collaborate with them on their treatment plan.
Each treatment plan is customized to meet the needs of each client and may include modalities such as:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Motivational interviewing
- Trauma-focused interventions
In our IOP, group therapy is an important feature, allowing adults to share their struggles with mental health concerns with others who can relate. Group therapy provides the opportunity for adults to learn and practice communication skills, coping skills, emotion regulation and goal setting. Adults can expect to participate in therapy sessions Monday-Thursday for three hours each day.
Along with group therapy, our IOP offers services such as individual therapy, family therapy, medication management and basic medical care. The length of stay in our IOP can range from a few weeks to a few months depending on each client’s unique concerns and goals.
Continuing Care
At Sierra at Southlake, we understand that continuing care is essential for long-term healing. Each client receives customized aftercare planning, which begins at admission and may include:
- Referrals to traditional outpatient programs
- Community resources
- Additional support groups
We know that each client’s healing journey continues long after their time in our program. Through continuing care, we give adults the support system and resources they need to take the next steps in their treatment.
